Good Evening, Vampyre-kind.
My name is V. S. Nightborn. I’m your friendly neighborhood Vampyre Historian. I awakened in 2003 and have been a member of the online vampire community since 2005. I am not a member of any particular house or bloodline, what some in our community might call ‘Ronin’. That said, I do respect the bloodlines, houses, and covens of our community. So much of our culture stems from those systems and families, and I can definitely appreciate the in person support and community. I’m incredibly passionate about preserving vampyre history & culture, and educating people—vampyre and non vampyre alike—about our community and our needs. I own an ever growing library of books written by, for, and about our community and experiences.
After 20 years in various pockets of the online community, I witnessed a lot happen in real time. Observing the community change over time is part of why I’m so invested in documenting and preserving Vampyre history and culture. To put it in perspective, I entered the online community the same year the Atlanta Vampire Alliance was founded. A lot of resources have come and gone in my time. At this point in my life, it’s important for me to keep learning and growing as well as facilitating the growth of others in our community. I’m no longer a wide eyed, newly awakened vampyre. There are entire generations that have come up since my awakening and sometimes it feels like they have access to less resources and community spaces than I did. Books are out of print, websites are gone or long abandoned, podcasts and YouTube channels have been wiped off the internet. I don’t want our ways, our knowledge and our support to be lost. I want to help carry it into future generations.
In addition to my vampyrism, I have been a practicing Witch and Spirit Worker for the last 20 years with a focus on trance, journey, and ecstatic experiences. I have close relationships with many deities, spirit entities, poisonous plant allies, and fair folk. My practice includes energy work and my vampiric nature gives my work a very particular flavor, so to speak.
I hope to use this space to share my thoughts and experiences as a vampyre, as well as highlight or document pieces of vampyre history I don’t want to see forgotten. From time to time I may explore the intersection of my vampirism with my witchcraft, paganism, and spirit work. I invite you to come along on this journey with me.
V.S. Nightborn
